Charlie Knaggs

Charlie’s professional background is in corporate environmental management, carbon measurement and abatement, and sustainability data management.

Since joining Net Balance in 2009, Charlie has worked on a range of projects including the development and implementation of environmental management systems; energy, water and waste audits; greenhouse gas inventories and audits; and sustainability report assurance engagements.

Charlie’s clients include Brambles, Commonwealth Bank, Qantas, George Weston Foods and Woolworths.

Prior to Net Balance, Charlie worked as the sustainability analyst for DLA Piper in London. Charlie was also project manager for the firm’s Global Sustainability Initiative. His experiences included obtaining global certification to ISO14001 across 85 offices, developing internal environmental awareness campaigns, implementing energy efficiency projects, and the in-house management of carbon neutrality.

Charlie is also co-founder and advisor to the Australian Legal Sector Alliance (AusLSA), a group of law firms collaborating to address the challenges of sustainability as they apply to law firms.

He holds a Master of Environmental Management from UNSW, and Bachelors degrees in Economics and Arts from the Australian National University. He is a registered Level 1 (technical and non-technical) Greenhouse and Energy Auditor with the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, and has undertaken certified training in the use of ISO14064, and the AA1000 Sustainability Assurance Standard. He is a committee member of the Australian Institute of Environmental Accounting, and a general member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
