Ewan Briggs

Prior to joining Net Balance in 2010, Ewan worked for the Carbon Trust in London, as part of their Enterprises team, creating new carbon reducing companies to take advantage of the opportunities that the transition to a low carbon economy presents. Ewan was particularly involved in transforming the Energy Efficiency and Accreditation Scheme into the Carbon Trust Standard Company. Other projects included green building refurbishment, waste to energy opportunities and developing public sector wind farms.

Before pursuing his interest in sustainable development, Ewan worked for 5 years in the Insurance and IT sectors based in London, developing software and business practices with both brokers and insurers to streamline the commercial insurance industry.

Ewan holds a Masters degree in Materials Engineering from Oxford University and is nearing completion of a Masters in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Building Design.

Originally from the UK, but having grown up around the globe, Ewan came to Australia to escape the European winters and enjoy the Sydney lifestyle. He is a keen sailor and windsurfer, and took a year off to sail a racing yacht from the UK to Sydney. After 16,000 miles and competing in the Sydney Hobart race last year he’s now into sailing smaller boats and can be found most weekends racing skiffs in the harbour. Ewan is also a keen surfer, and has aspirations to finally get to grips with learning the guitar.
