Jack has recently joined Net Balance from Arup where he was an engineer and sustainability consultant in Arup’s buildings and energy disciplines.

In his engineering role Jack has worked locally and internationally on leading sustainable developments including Sydney’s Darling Quarter and Barangaroo foreshore, and Abu Dhabi’s MASDAR city. He has experience in passive building design, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, thermal comfort, natural daylighting, renewable energy systems and delivering building, precinct and distributed energy solutions.

As a consultant in the field of energy and sustainability Jack has provided strategic advice to a diverse range of public and private sector clients. He has been involved in sustainability strategy, eco-footprinting, life cycle assessment, energy modelling, analytics, energy masterplanning and existing buildings strategy. Jack recently worked on formulating Sydney’s Renewable Energy Masterplan, and Melbourne’s 1200 Buildings Program and Sustainable Melbourne Fund.

Outside of work Jack is an advisor to the Beyond Zero Emissions group and is a contributing author to their Zero Carbon Australia (ZCA) Buildings plan to be released mid-2011.

Jack is a lover of coffee and makes a hobby of sniffing out the best brews in town. He is a keen cyclist and is currently training to do his first full length triathlon. When he’s feeling brave Jack contributes to his partner’s creative writing group, the Rag and Bone Man Salon.

Jack has a honours degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), he is a member of the Institute of Engineers Australia and is a Green Star Accredited professional.
