Stephanie has spent the last 5 years studying and working in the field of climate change policy, particularly adaptation, through her work at Net Balance and her Masters of Environmental Management from Yale University. During her studies, she focused on climate change policy at both the domestic and international level. Her thesis analysed the implications of the Australian government’s adaptation policy on remote indigenous communities. During this time, she also attended COP15 in Copenhagen as a member of the Maldives’ delegation and worked with small island developing states at the United Nations, New York, to assist them in mobilizing support for tough international action on climate change. Since joining Net Balance, Stephanie has been involved in preparing climate change adaptation plans for public sector clients; general sustainability strategy advice; reviewing corporate sustainability reports; and advising a peak industry body on transitions required to minimise the impact of climate change and a carbon price on specific regional communities. Prior to this, Stephanie worked at Blake Dawson for a number of years as an environmental lawyer, where her work included statutory interpretation for public sector clients, VCAT appeals for public and private sector client and environmental due diligence work for large corporate takeovers. Stephanie is also a founder and associate director of the Environmental Film Festival Melbourne. She received bachelor of science and bachelor of law degrees from the University of Melbourne, majoring in both environmental law and climatology
