Charlie Knaggs’ professional background is in corporate environmental management, carbon measurement and abatement, sustainability data management, and employee engagement on sustainability issues.
Charlie returned from London in September 2009, where he was working as the sustainability analyst for DLA Piper, one of the world’s leading law firms. Charlie was also project manager for the firm’s Global Sustainability Initiative. His experience included obtaining global certification to ISO14001 across 85 offices, developing internal environmental awareness campaigns, rolling out energy efficiency projects, and the in-house management of carbon neutrality aspirations. Charlie was a taskforce representative to the Legal Sector Alliance, a collaboration of law firms sharing knowledge and best practice to address the challenges of climate change. In this capacity, Charlie developed the LSA Protocol carbon measurement tool, which has since been adopted as the standard for professional services firms across the UK.
Charlie also has extensive experience in data collection, management and analysis. He is well-versed in the workings of the London Benchmarking Group and the CR Index, two of the world’s leading indices for corporate responsibility performance.
He holds a Master of Environmental Management from UNSW, and was fortunate enough to have spent the final six months of this degree on exchange at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where he was inspired by the excellent Swedish environmental management regime. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Geography) and Bachelor of Economics from the ANU. Charlie is an avid traveller and cook. He is also an enthusiastic (if not quite adept) guitar player, and still tries to pretend that he is young enough to play rugby. |
