Melinda Leth started with Net Balance as a Senior Associate in June 2008 and has 10 years experience in environmental sustainability. Since joining Net Balance, Melinda has provided assurance and sustainability strategy and advisory services for the insurance, telecommunications, energy, industrial, business services and transport sectors. She has also has facilitated sustainability training in Asia for SMEs and Fortune 500 companies.
Melinda has extensive experience in public policy and has worked closely with government, industry and community developing strategies to achieve environmental, economic and social outcomes for Sydney Water and the Department of Primary Industries (Vic). At DPI, Melinda conducted market research to inform the selection and design of policies, such as cap and trade markets, to drive the adoption of sustainable agriculture practices. She also developed strategic frameworks drawing on her experience in business management, organisational change, marketing and economics to inform policy decision making to better achieve outcomes. Prior to this Melinda worked as a researcher for the NSW EPA advising on sustainable practices to reduce the environmental impact of quarrying. This involved developing catchment plans and extensive community consultation.
Melinda holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Hons), majoring in natural resource management, and has undertaken Executive Leadership training at the Mt Eliza Centre for Executive Education. She is also co-author of several academic articles on policy instruments for natural resource management. During her spare time Melinda enjoys mountain biking, hiking and adventure racing which provide ample physical and mental challenges outside of the workplace. She balances these adventures with more creative pursuits such as photography, reading, cooking and dancing. Melinda is also a Member of the School of Philosophy. |
